About the role

Earl James and Associates is seeking a skilled and experienced Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Darwin, NT. This is a full-time position based in our Darwin office. As a Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in our construction surveying operations, providing accurate measurements, assessments and technical expertise that form the foundation of our success. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for precision and professionalism in the construction and surveying industry.

What you'll be doing

- Conducting site surveys and establishing accurate measurements and levels for construction projects

- Preparing detailed survey plans, reports and technical documentation using industry-standard software and equipment

- Setting out building lines, boundaries and other construction points on site

- Preparing Machine files and providing operator support

- Carrying out quality assurance inspections and measurements throughout construction phases

- Liaising with architects, engineers, contractors and clients to discuss survey requirements and findings

- Maintaining and calibrating surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability

- Documenting survey data and maintaining comprehensive records for project files

- Identifying potential site challenges or discrepancies and recommending solutions

- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations and safety requirements on site

What we're looking for

- A recognised surveying qualification or relevant qualification in a related field such as civil engineering or demonstrated experience





- Proven experience working as a surveyor within the construction industry, ideally in a similar climate or regional context

- Proficiency with modern surveying equipment including GNSS, Robotic Total Stations, 3D Laser Scanners, Multirotor and digital levels - Trimble, Riegl and DJI experience preferred

- Strong knowledge of surveying software packages and CAD applications - Terramodel, TBC and AgiSoft preferred

- Excellent mathematical and technical abilities with meticulous attention to detail

- The ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings accurately

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders

- A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to different job sites

- Knowledge of relevant Australian and Territory standards and building codes

- Physical fitness and capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

- A commitment to health and safety best practices on construction sites

Please note: Because you will be working across various sites including defence establishments, you will need a valid 'C' Class Australian Driver's Licence, able to pass drug screening and a criminal history check.
