Remuneration: $186,241 - $229,825 pa (excluding superannuation and other allowances)

About the opportunity

This is a 12-month position for a recent RACP fellow to establish themselves in their subspecialty practice and clinical leadership in a dynamic and supportive regional setting. The successful applicant will get a taste of being a junior staff specialist in a supportive environment with the possibility of ongoing employment in building critical mass of the health service.

Exposure to an acute general medicine inpatient service with 3 inpatient teams, RACP-accredited medical trainees in a high-quality regional referral hospital.

Coupled with the flexibility to practice subspecialty medicine in a uniquely rural environment in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Doing this in a relaxed, dynamic rural community with large growth and professional development potential.

This position will sit within the department of general medicine at Orange Health Service. A diverse department of 12 consultant physicians who work on a rotating on-call service of acute general medicine inpatient service.

In addition to this inpatient service, consultants offer both inpatient consultation and outpatient services in their respective disciplines which include: nephrology, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, endocrinology,



geriatrics, infectious diseases, neurology and general medicine.

To apply, please address the following Selection Criteria

- Possess or be eligible for Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Demonstrated orientation to rural/regional practice through life experiences and/or medical training, outlining evidence of commitment to the provision of health care in a rural setting, preferably with experience of rural or regional medicine.




- Demonstrated technical and professional competence in the speciality, including recent hospital experience within the specialty. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including:
- High level interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision

- Demonstrated commitment to continuing medical education relevant to rural specialist practice.
- Preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters.
