Our Operations Team is growing to support service, maintenance and infrastructure delivery for the Town of Victoria Park into the future. This growth means the creation of new roles and a continuing focus on working collaboratively to best serve our vibrant inner-city community.
From Town assets maintenance, environment and parks, to technical services, waste, major infrastructure delivery and property development, we’re looking for motivated individuals keen to contribute to a multi-functional and collaborative team environment.
An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Manager Technical Design to join the Town on a full-time contract (up to 5 years)

Your role
The Manager Technical Design provides strategic leadership and oversight of the Towns technical design function, ensuring the delivery of engineering solutions that support infrastructure, asset management and service delivery objectives. The role is responsible for the planning, design, review and governance of infrastructure projects, ensuring assets are developed, renewed and managed effectively throughout their lifecycle.
- Lead and develop the Technical Design team.
- Oversee civil infrastructure design and engineering services.
- Manage capital works design, budgets and project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards and policies.
- Support asset management, renewal and sustainability objectives.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and present technical advice.
- Manage Fleet Services, Street Improvement and engineering compliance activities.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic leadership of the Town's technical design, engineering and infrastructure planning functions.
- Oversight of civil infrastructure design, engineering standards and technical governance.
- Planning, prioritisation and delivery of capital works design programs and associated budgets.
- Technical review, risk management and compliance with relevant legislation, standards and policies.
- Supporting asset management, infrastructure renewal and sustainability objectives through effective design solutions.
- Leadership and development of the Technical Design team, fostering technical excellence and capability.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and providing expert technical advice.
- Driving operational excellence through efficient, effective and customer-focused engineering and design services while promoting a positive, safe and inclusive workplace culture.
- Fostering a positive, safe and inclusive workplace culture that supports employee wellbeing, collaboration and high performance.
What you’ll need to succeed
We are seeking an experienced leader who can demonstrate:
- Experience in a senior engineering, technical design, infrastructure planning or related role.
- Proven leadership and people management capability.
- Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience delivering infrastructure design, capital works programs and engineering governance outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and technical advisory skills.
- The ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.
- Sound judgement, accountability and a commitment to customer-focused service delivery.

This position is offered on a five-year Contract
- salary range of $155,137 - $171,119
- $16,000 vehicle allowance
