Our Operations Team is growing to support service, maintenance and infrastructure delivery for the Town of Victoria Park into the future. This growth means the creation of new roles and a continuing focus on working collaboratively to best serve our vibrant inner-city community.
The Towns vision is to provide best practice waste management and resource recovery to create a circular economy, for the Town and its community, thereby protecting human health and the environment
As part of this vision, our Waste Services team plays a vital role in delivering sustainable waste and resource management initiatives that support our circular economy aspirations and help create a cleaner, greener future for our community.
From Town assets maintenance, workplace and parks, to technical services, waste, major infrastructure delivery and property development, we’re looking for motivated individuals keen to contribute to a multi-functional and collaborative team environment.
An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Coordinator Strategic Waste to join the Town on a full-time basis.

Your new role
The Strategic Waste Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the delivery, performance and continuous improvement of the Town's waste management services, programs and initiatives. The role provides specialist advice,
manages key contracts and projects, and works collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve waste minimisation, resource recovery and sustainability outcomes. The position plays a key role in ensuring legislative compliance, promoting best practice, and supporting the implementation of the Town's strategic waste management objectives.
- Contract management and service performance oversight.
- Waste collection, recycling and resource recovery service coordination.
- Waste minimisation, circular economy and behaviour change initiatives.
- Community education, engagement and stakeholder liaison.
- Compliance, governance and legislative reporting.
- Waste data analysis, strategic planning and continuous improvement.
- Project coordination and delivery of waste infrastructure initiatives.
Key responsibilities include
- Coordinate and support the delivery of waste, sustainability and environmental services, contributing to team performance and organisational outcomes.
- Coordinate and support the delivery of team objectives, contributing to positive engagement, capability development, and performance outcomes.
- Assist with the efficient day-to-day administration of operations, ensuring effective use of resources and timely service delivery.
- Monitor activities, manage competing priorities, and support the achievement of organisational and operational goals.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners.
- Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements, contributing to enhanced efficiency, effectiveness, and service outcomes.
- Support the implementation of change initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the organisation.
- Promote a positive, safe,
and inclusive workplace culture that values wellbeing, collaboration, and diversity.
- Contribute to the success of the organisation through proactive coordination, problem-solving, and a commitment to high-quality service delivery.
What you’ll need to succeed

- Significant experience leading waste management or related operations, with demonstrated expertise in contract management, procurement and contractor performance oversight.
- Proven leadership and people management capability.
- Strong operational and problem-solving skills.

- A commitment to customer-focused service delivery.
