Our Operations Team is growing to support service, maintenance and infrastructure delivery for the Town of Victoria Park into the future. This growth means the creation of new roles and a continuing focus on working collaboratively to best serve our vibrant inner-city community.

The Towns vision is to provide best practice waste management and resource recovery to create a circular economy, for the Town and its community, thereby protecting human health and the environment

As part of this vision, our Waste Services team plays a vital role in delivering sustainable waste and resource management initiatives that support our circular economy aspirations and help create a cleaner, greener future for our community.

From Town assets maintenance, environment and parks, to technical services, waste, major infrastructure delivery and property development, we’re looking for motivated individuals keen to contribute to a multi-functional and collaborative team environment.

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced Manager Environment, Waste and Sustainability to join the Town on a full-time contract (up to 5 years)

Your new role





Providing strategic leadership and operational management of the Town's waste, sustainability and environmental programs, ensuring the delivery of efficient waste services, achievement of sustainability and climate objectives, and compliance with legislative requirements while supporting Council's long-term strategic vision.

- Strategic waste, sustainability and climate leadership.
- Corporate and operational planning.
- Waste service delivery and resource recovery.
- Contract management and service optimisation.
- Environmental sustainability and climate initiatives.
- Legislative compliance, governance and risk management.
- Team leadership, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include

- Strategic leadership of environmental, waste and sustainability programs and governance.
- Waste service planning, resource recovery and service optimisation.
- Sustainability, climate action and environmental management initiatives.
- Regulatory compliance, risk management and performance monitoring.
- Leadership and development of the Environment, Waste and Sustainability team.
- Building organisational capability and stakeholder engagement in environmental and sustainability practices.
- Driving operational excellence through efficient, effective and customer-focused waste and environmental services.
- Fostering a positive, safe and inclusive workplace culture that supports employee wellbeing, collaboration and high performance.

What you’ll need to succeed

We are seeking an experienced leader who can demonstrate:





- Experience in a senior management role within waste management, sustainability, environmental management or a related field.
- Proven leadership and people management capability.
- Strong strategic, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience driving asset planning, performance improvement and risk management outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- The ability to lead change and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Sound judgement, accountability and a commitment to customer-focused service delivery.

The benefits of working for us

This position is offered on a five-year Contract

- salary range of $155,137 - $171,119
- $16,000 vehicle allowance
- up to 19% Council superannuation contribution
