Position Details
St Columba’s Catholic Primary School, South Perth, is a double stream school founded in the Mercy charism and later led by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (Josephites) for many decades. The school caters for 450 students in a co-educational setting from Pre-Kindergarten to year 6.
This is a part time, ongoing position commencing 12 October 2026. The position will be for three days per week and can be negotiated by the successful applicant.
The Social Worker is responsible for the implementation of initiatives aimed at promoting and protecting student wellbeing through prevention and intervention, and working with students and families requiring support. The Social Worker works as part of a team to empower and enable all students to flourish in an inclusive, engaging and mutually respectful workplace.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should provide examples of how they have demonstrated the following criteria in previous or current positions¿ within their application:
•Partnering with students, families and key staff to enhance student well-being.
•Creating and designing well-being presentations to support and upskill the school community.
•Adhering to policy and procedure in the delivery of student support services.
•Prioritising and advocating for the well-being of students; prioritising a culture of child safety with the School and consistently applying the principles and practices of the CEWA Childsafe Framework.
•Working in collaboration with key stakeholders to develop and facilitate preventative programs; exploring, networking and enhancing relations with internal parties and external organisations to support the delivery of programs.
•Proactively communicating with key stakeholders to build on the delivery of individual and collective student well-being programs, including active contribution in relevant meetings.
•Delivering a best practice approach to intervention, including individual and collective counselling methodologies.
Qualifications Required
An appropriate tertiary qualification- preferably a degree in Social Work or similar.
Eligibility for membership of AASW.
Accreditation to work in a Catholic School or willingness to work towards this.
