The role
This is a collaborative coaching role focused on developing swimmers across our Mini Squad and Development programs while also growing your own coaching capabilities which includes:
- Teaching and developing foundational competitive swim skills
- Supporting swimmer progression through the squad pathway
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and engaging training environment
- Building strong relationships with swimmers, parents, and fellow coaches
- Working collaboratively with the coaching team to deliver high-quality programs
- Occasionally attending designated swim meets and supporting club activities as required
- Encouraging, motivating, and mentoring young swimmers to reach their potential
About You
We're looking for someone who is committed to helping others succeed.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A passion for swimming and athlete development, with swimming experience or a genuine interest in the sport
- The ability and confidence to teach and coach swimmers at introductory and development squad levels
- A desire to continue developing their coaching skills and progress to coaching higher-level squads over time
- Strong communication skills, ability to build positive relationships with young people
- A calm and confident pool deck presence
- A professional approach and commitment to high standards
- Reliability and consistency in attendance and preparation
- A growth mindset and willingness to learn and embrace feedback
- Flexibility to work a varied roster that may include early mornings, evenings, and split shifts across six days per week.
Essential qualifications
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable qualifications
- SCTA Foundation Coach Course or Development Coach qualifications
Training
While previous coaching, teaching, mentoring, or Learn to Swim experience is desirable, don't let qualifications stop you from applying. If you're eager to learn, committed to developing your coaching skills, and passionate about swimming, we'd love to hear from you and will financially support you to gain your coaching certifications
