Project Manager – Red Lake Operations, Ontario, Canada

Residential Role | Relocation Support Offered

Lead one of Byrnecut's key international underground mining operations.

Byrnecut International is part of the Byrnecut Group, an internationally renowned specialist underground mining contractor with operations across Australia, the Americas, Africa and Asia.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our underground mining contract at Evolution Mining's Red Lake Operation in Ontario, Canada.

This residential leadership opportunity offers a family-friendly 5/2 : 4/3 roster, visa sponsorship for the successful applicant and eligible immediate family members, relocation support, international travel at the commencement and completion of the assignment, and either company-provided accommodation or a housing allowance.

About Red Lake

Located in north-western Ontario, Red Lake is one of Canada's most established underground gold mining districts and has earned a global reputation for producing high-grade gold for more than 75 years.

Byrnecut delivers underground mining services to Evolution Mining under a long-term alliance contract, providing both underground development and production services using a modern mechanised fleet.

Home to approximately 4,100 residents, Red Lake is an established mining community offering schools, healthcare services, supermarkets, restaurants, sporting facilities and year-round outdoor recreation. Located approximately 555 km north-west of Thunder Bay (around a 6–7 hour drive or a short regional flight), the township combines the lifestyle of a close-knit regional community with convenient access to a major regional centre. Byrnecut also has an established network of expatriate employees already living and working in the region, providing valuable local support for those relocating internationally.





About the Role

Reporting to the Australia-based Operations Manager, you will have overall responsibility for Byrnecut Canada Limited's operations at Red Lake. Leading an experienced site leadership team, you will be accountable for safety, operational performance, financial outcomes, client relationships and the continued development of a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

- Providing visible leadership that places safety, health and wellbeing above all else.

- Leading all operational aspects of Byrnecut's underground mining contract with Evolution Mining.

- Delivering development and production targets safely, efficiently and within budget.

- Managing financial performance through budgeting, forecasting, cost control and commercial decision-making.

- Ensuring Byrnecut equipment and operational resources are effectively managed to maximise reliability and productivity.

- Building, leading and developing a high-performing site leadership team.

- Managing workforce planning, recruitment and succession planning in collaboration with site management.

- Maintaining strong client relationships through open communication and collaborative problem-solving.

- Identifying operational risks and implementing practical mitigation strategies.

- Ensuring compliance with Byrnecut's Safety Management System and applicable Ontario mining legislation.

- Overseeing contractual administration, reporting, monthly claims and key performance indicators.

- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across safety, productivity and operational performance.

About You





You are an experienced underground mining leader who combines strong operational knowledge with commercial capability and an authentic leadership style.

You will bring:

- Extensive underground hard rock mining experience across both development and production environments.

- Mining Engineering or other relevant tertiary qualification.

- Previous experience leading underground mining operations in a senior site management role.

- Demonstrated success managing underground mining contracts and client relationships.

- Strong commercial, budgeting and operational reporting capability.

- Proven ability to develop and lead high-performing teams.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across diverse cultures.

- The ability and willingness to relocate internationally.

Highly regarded:

- First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency.

- Underground Supervisor's Certificate of Competency.

- Previous international operational leadership experience.

- Experience using INX InControl and InTuition systems.
