Perth

At Allight, we don't just supply equipment—we power industries.

From mining and infrastructure to agriculture and critical services, our solutions have been keeping Australia moving since 1988. Behind that capability is a team of skilled, hands‑on technicians who take pride in keeping critical equipment operating in some of the toughest environments in the country.

We’re now looking for a motivated and capable Field Service Technician to service our growing power and lighting portfolio across Western Australia.

The opportunity

Based in Landsdale and reporting to the Service Manager, this position is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified technician who is ready to expand their technical experience and progress into a varied, customer-facing field service role.

The majority of work will be carried out across the Perth metropolitan area, servicing and supporting customers at their premises. There may also be occasional travel to regional or mine sites when required; however, this is expected to be infrequent.

You will work across a broad range of power generation and lighting equipment, including Perkins diesel engines, FG Wilson generators, pumps and Allight lighting towers. The role combines scheduled servicing, breakdown support, diagnostics, repairs, commissioning and technical assistance.

You will be trusted to manage your assigned work independently while being supported by an experienced service team and OEM technical resources. The variety of equipment, customers and operating environments provides a strong platform to develop specialist skills in diesel engines, power generation and field service operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Carrying out a combination of workshop and field-based duties, with the workload expected to be approximately a 50/50 split.

- Carrying out scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, generators, pumps and lighting towers.

- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and control-system faults using appropriate testing equipment, technical information and established fault-finding processes.

- Responding to customer breakdowns and emergency call-outs, identifying the cause of equipment failures and completing repairs efficiently.

- Inspecting equipment and identifying additional repair requirements, safety concerns or potential reliability issues.

- Providing clear technical advice and product support to customers, technicians and internal departments.

- Communicating professionally with customers regarding equipment condition, repair progress, site requirements and recommended actions.

- Completing service reports, timesheets, inspection records and other job documentation accurately and within the required timeframes.

Your strengths

- Adaptable and able to respond effectively to changing work priorities, customer requirements and site conditions.

- Comfortable using technology, diagnostic software and computer-based reporting systems to complete service reports,

timesheets and other job documentation.

- A recognised trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, Light Vehicle Technician or another relevant mechanical trade.

- Sound diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to work through technical problems logically and identify practical solutions.

- The confidence and self-motivation to work independently at customer sites while knowing when to seek additional technical support.

- A safety-focused approach and a commitment to following procedures, assessing risks and maintaining a safe work environment.

- Qualified communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with customers and colleagues.

- A customer-focused mindset, taking pride in providing reliable service and keeping customers informed.A

- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel to customer sites when required.

What Allight brings to the table

- A supportive and experienced service team that will provide practical assistance, technical knowledge and guidance when you need it.

- A fully maintained tool-of-trade service vehicle, equipped to support your workshop and field-service responsibilities.

- A competitive hourly rate, with overtime and after-hours opportunities available through the shared on-call roster.

- Ongoing technical training, OEM support and access to product information to help develop your knowledge of engines, generators, pumps and lighting equipment.

- Permanent employment with a stable national business and long-term opportunities for professional development and career progression.
