About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial information to support business decision-making. You will work closely with both the finance team and operational personnel to ensure the timely processing and reporting of exploration expenditure and corporate costs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and wants to develop or broaden their experience within the mining and exploration industry. The role offers exposure to management accounting, financial reporting, exploration accounting, payroll and accounts payable within a small, collaborative finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
- Monitor and report on exploration expenditure and project budgets.
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Support the preparation of statutory reporting, audit and tax requirements.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and capital expenditure reporting.
- Provide backup support for the Accounts Payable function, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations and payment runs.
- Provide backup support for payroll processing.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and internal controls.
- Undertake other finance-related duties as required.
About You
You will be a motivated finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is willing to assist wherever needed.
Ideally, you will have:
- A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Progress towards or completion of CA or CPA qualifications.
- Previous experience in a management accounting or assistant accountant role.
- Experience within the mining, exploration or resources industry (desirable).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using Xero (desirable).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to support multiple finance functions.
