About the Role
This role involves operating fibre laser cutting machines, preparing materials, supporting dispatch operations, and ensuring quality products are delivered to our customers. Opportunities are available across both Day and Afternoon Shifts.
Keys Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain fibre laser cutting machines to ensure optimal performance and quality output.
- Perform daily machine start-up and shutdown procedures.
- Set machines, load programs, and make necessary program edits.
- Read and interpret job drawings and ensure work is completed to required specifications.
- Work with precision and within required tolerances while maintaining quality standards.
- Prioritize work orders based on urgency to meet production targets.
- Set cutting parameters to achieve optimal cutting quality.
- Cut steel plates ranging from 0.55mm to 25mm across various materials.
- Complete re-nesting where required to maximize material usage and minimize waste.
- Select and prepare sheet metal for the laser cutting process.
- Complete first-cut checks and milestone quality checks throughout production.
- Load and unload steel plates using forklift and overhead crane.
- Assist with dispatch duties including material handling and preparation of finished products.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Assist with press brake operations when required (knowledge advantageous).
About You
- Previous laser cutting experience is highly regarded; however, we are open to candidates with a strong mechanical background who are willing to learn.
- Experience operating fibre laser machines is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Current High Risk Work Licence (LF forklift and/or relevant licences) is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Reliable transport and a strong work ethic.
