Are you an Enrolled Nurse with an interest in complex mental health and psychosocial disability support?
Empower Living is seeking a calm, compassionate and experienced Enrolled Nurse to join our team as a casual Complex Mental Health Disability Support Worker.
You will provide person-centred support to participants with complex mental health needs and psychosocial disabilities. This role requires patience, emotional resilience, sound professional judgement and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
For the right person, there may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and progress into key worker, senior support or leadership roles as Empower Living continues to grow.
About the Role
Depending on each participant’s individual needs, you may:
• Support participants experiencing complex mental health challenges and psychosocial disabilities
• Build safe, respectful and consistent professional relationships
• Assist with personal care, daily routines and independent living skills
• Provide medication assistance within your qualifications, training and scope of practice
• Monitor participants’ health, wellbeing and changes in presentation
• Recognise and respond appropriately to signs of distress or deterioration
• Use trauma-informed and recovery-oriented support approaches
• Follow individual support plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
• Use positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
• Support appointments, community access and social participation
• Maintain clear skilled boundaries
• Complete accurate shift notes, incident reports and other required documentation
• Communicate with participants, families and the broader care team
About You
You will be a strong fit for this role if you are:
• A qualified Enrolled Nurse with current AHPRA registration
• Experienced or genuinely interested in complex mental health and psychosocial disability support
• Calm,
patient and confident in challenging situations
• Able to recognise changes in behaviour, mood and wellbeing
• Skilled in professional communication and de-escalation
• Respectful of participant choice, dignity, privacy and independence
• Reliable, emotionally resilient and able to work independently
• Committed to person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented practice
• Available for casual shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays, active nights and sleepovers
Experience in disability support, mental health, community care or working with behaviours of concern is highly regarded.
Essential Requirements
• Diploma of Nursing
• Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working With Vulnerable People registration
• National Police Check
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate
• Current Australian driver’s licence
• Reliable registered vehicle with comprehensive insurance
• Valid Australian working rights
• Willingness to complete participant-specific and mandatory training
