Shire of Mundaring is seeking a motivated Waste Operator – Collections to join our Waste and Resource Recovery team. This hands-on role plays a key part in delivering efficient, protected and sustainable waste collection services to our community.
Reporting to the Supervisor Waste and Resource Recovery, this full-time position is based at the Operations Centre and assists with the day-to-day operations of waste collections and associated activities.
Key Responsibilities
- safely and efficiently operate waste collection vehicles for scheduled and ad-hoc collections, including Containers for Change, public places, facilities and events
- undertake litter, illegal dumping and roadkill collection and disposal in accordance with safety and environmental procedures
- follow designated collection routes while maintaining service standards and efficiency
- complete bin repairs, replacements and general maintenance tasks
- deliver and retrieve mobile garbage bins for events, new services and service changes
- conduct pre-start inspections of vehicles and equipment.
You will have:
- working knowledge of waste management and WHS practices
- a current and valid WA HR Class Driver’s Licence
- a current Construction Safety Awareness (White Card).
Experience in municipal waste collection or operating waste collection vehicles, as well as additional tickets (LF, Front End Loader, First Aid), will be well regarded.
