Job description

- 3-year contract
- Market-competitive salary, including vehicle
- Located at Fairbairn, near Canberra Airport, with some flexibility for hybrid working

THE ORGANISATION

Canberra PCYC has operated in Canberra since 1957.

We are a community-oriented organisation committed to empowering young people through a variety of programs that promote personal development, education and skill enhancement. Our primary objective is to support at risk youth and families by offering safe environments, mentorship and opportunities that cultivate resilience, social connections and pathways to brighter futures.

THE ROLE

The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board and leads the organisation in the implementation of the strategic plan and oversight of all aspects of the organisation’s management.

The role requires a dynamic leader, committed to the transformative potential of positive futures through a collaborative environment that provides a highly respected community and educational support service for children, young people and their families.

THE PERSON

To be successful in this role you will have relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field e.g. social work, psychology, business management or at least 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role within a not-for-profit or mission driven organisation, preferably involving youth and/or community development, social services, welfare, education or similar.





You will have exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills, with a focus on strategic partnerships, government and philanthropy relationships and be able to demonstrate that you have the skills and experience to:

- Exercise responsible stewardship of financial, human and organisational resources, while ensuring effective delivery of programs and achievement of strategic outcomes;
- Secure funding through grants, donor programs, philanthropy, or business development;
- Guide program development and delivery, and lead teams to achieve measurable outcomes;
- Manage the organisation’s finances, including budgeting and reporting;
- Negotiate and manage contracts;
- Work in strong partnership with a Board, including providing high-quality advice and reporting.
