The St Vincent de Paul Society SA (Vinnies) is seeking compassionate and dedicated Community Services Workers to join our team at the Vinnies Women’s Crisis Centre.
This is an opportunity to support women and children experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness, and crisis, including those accompanied by pets, in a safe, trauma-informed accommodation setting.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Community Services Worker, you will provide frontline guest support and essential administrative services within a short-term crisis accommodation service.
You will work directly with guests while contributing to a safe, respectful, and supportive environment, alongside internal teams and external case workers and agencies delivering wrap-around support.
This is a values-driven, fast-paced role where professionalism, teamwork, and compassion are essential.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide trauma-informed, respectful frontline support to guests
- Conduct check-ins, check-outs, initial assessments, and passive sleepovers
- Maintain accurate case notes and program records
- Support referral pathways to internal and external services
- Participate in shift debriefs and team communication processes
- Liaise with external agencies and support services
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and organisational requirements
- Support guests with pets (including small to medium animals)
- Undertake general duties such as cleaning, bed making, bin management, and manual handling tasks
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean,
and welcoming environment
- Work within WHS policies and procedures
ROSTER REQUIREMENTS
Casual Roles
- Must have flexible availability across all shifts
- Including weekends and passive sleepover shifts
Permanent Part-Time Opportunity
Roster includes:
- Tuesday (afternoon + sleepover)
- Wednesday (day shift)
- Friday (day shift – week 1 / afternoon shift – week 2)
- Every second Saturday (day + sleepover)
ABOUT YOU
You are a compassionate, resilient, and professional individual who thrives in a team environment and is committed to supporting women with dignity and respect.
You will bring:
- Minimum Certificate III in Community Services or similar
- Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Provide First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with people experiencing social disadvantage, DFV, and/or homelessness
- Strong administrative and intermediate computer skills
- Physical fitness to perform manual handling and active tasks
- Willingness and ability to complete passive sleepover shifts
- Ability to work safely in an environment that may include domestic animals
Desirable:
Experience in crisis accommodation, emergency services, domestic and family violence support,
aged care, or similar community service settings.
