About the Company
We are an established Australian frozen food manufacturer supplying high-quality products to supermarkets, distributors, wholesalers, foodservice operators and hospitality businesses across Australia.
As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Development & Account Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for both developing recent business opportunities and managing existing customer relationships, with a strong focus on maintaining our supermarket presence throughout South Australia while supporting national sales growth.

About the Role
Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for driving sales growth by identifying new business opportunities, managing key customer accounts and ensuring our products continue to perform successfully within existing retail outlets.
The successful candidate will spend time both on the road visiting customers and in the office planning sales activities, preparing proposals and working closely with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Identify, prospect and secure new business opportunities across Australia.
- Develop new customers within supermarkets, independent grocery retailers, distributors, wholesalers, foodservice, hospitality and convenience channels.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified sales opportunities.
- Negotiate trading terms, promotional agreements and supply contracts.
- Follow the sales process from initial contact through to successful customer onboarding.
- Represent the company at trade shows, industry events and networking opportunities.
- Monitor competitor activity and identify new market opportunities.
Account Management
- Manage and grow an assigned portfolio of customer accounts.
- Maintain strong relationships with supermarket buyers, store managers, distributors and key decision makers.
- Conduct regular customer visits throughout South Australia.
- Ensure existing product listings remain active and continue to grow.
- Secure additional product listings, promotional opportunities and increased shelf space.
- Conduct regular shelf audits to ensure products are well presented, correctly priced and adequately stocked.
- Monitor stock levels and work with customers to minimise out-of-stock situations.
- Coordinate promotional campaigns and catalogue activities with customers.
- Resolve customer enquiries and issues promptly while maintaining excellent customer service.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key customers to identify growth opportunities.
Territory & Sales Management
- Develop and execute territory sales plans.
- Achieve quarterly and annual sales targets.
- Prepare weekly sales reports and sales forecasts.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and customer records.
- Analyse sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
- Forecast customer demand and communicate volume requirements to the Production Planning team.
- Recommend pricing strategies and promotional activities to maximise sales performance.
Retail Execution & Merchandising
- Maintain existing shelf presence across assigned supermarket accounts.
- Ensure products are consistently available, correctly displayed and merchandised.
- Improve shelf positioning and maximise product visibility where opportunities exist.
- Monitor product rotation and presentation standards.
- Coordinate point-of-sale materials and promotional displays.
- Arrange and support in-store sampling and promotional activities.
- Report competitor products, pricing and promotional activity.
Customer Service & Relationship Management
- Deliver outstanding customer service at all times.
- Build trusted long-term relationships with customers.
- Follow up orders, delivery issues and customer enquiries.
- Coordinate with Warehouse, Production and Customer Service teams to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
Product & Market Development
- Gather customer feedback on existing products.
- Identify opportunities for new product development.
- Assist with the launch of new products into existing and recent accounts.
- Stay informed of industry trends, consumer preferences and competitor activities.
Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate CRM records and customer information.
- Complete sales reports and activity reports on time.
- Ensure customer pricing and commercial agreements are properly documented.
- Comply with company policies, workplace health and safety requirements and food safety standards.
- Undertake other duties as reasonably requested by management.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Minimum 3 years' experience in Business Development, Account Management or Territory Sales.
- Previous experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, grocery, wholesale or foodservice industries.
- Proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Strong negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
- Excellent relationship-building and customer management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
- Experience using CRM systems (preferred).
- Current unrestricted Australian Driver Licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout South Australia and interstate when required.
Highly Regarded
- Existing relationships with supermarket buyers, distributors or foodservice customers.
- Experience working with independent supermarkets and retail groups.
- Experience in category management, merchandising or retail execution.
- Knowledge of the Australian grocery and FMCG industry.
