Rate: $600 – $700 per day + Superannuation
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Pit Technician to provide field-based technical support to an open-pit mining operation in Western Australia.
Working across Mining, Geology and Survey, you will assist with the collection of accurate field information and help ensure operational activities align with mine plans, production requirements and site standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct pit inspections and field observations
- Support ore and waste identification and movement
- Assist with grade control and geological activities
- Collect, record and maintain production and technical data
- Complete field measurements, mark-ups and basic surveying tasks
- Assist with pit mapping and sampling
- Support drill and blast activities where required
- Monitor mining progress against plans and schedules
- Maintain accurate records, databases and site systems
- Communicate operational issues, hazards and improvement opportunities to relevant teams
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience as a Pit Technician, Mine Technician, Field Technician or in a similar mining role
- Open-pit mining experience
- Exposure to iron ore or bulk commodities is highly regarded
- Experience supporting mining, geology, grade control or survey functions
- Solid field data collection and record-keeping skills
- Good computer literacy
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Current Australian Manual C Class Driver’s Licence
- Full Australian working rights
- Ability to complete a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance if required
