Medical Receptionist – Ophthalmology Clinic | Burwood, NSW
We are a well-established and busy Ophthalmology clinic located in Burwood, seeking an enthusiastic Medical Receptionist to join our friendly team of 6 Doctors, 4 Orthoptists, and 3 Administrative Staff.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work in a supportive and professional medical environment.
Start Date: Immediately
Location: Burwood, NSW (750m/10min walk from Burwood train station)
Parking: Onsite staff parking available
Essential Criteria:
- Availability to work a 4-week rotating roster (3-5 days per week, hours will vary weekly)
- Be available to start work at 7:30am and finish work between 4pm-6pm
- This is a Monday to Friday role. No weekend work required.
- Flexibility to cover staff annual and sick leave when needed
- Computer literacy and fluent English communication skills
- Skilled phone manner and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with patients from a wide demographic range
- Team player who can also work independently
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and procedures
Desired Criteria (not essential but highly regarded):
- Previous experience in a medical or ophthalmology reception role
- Familiarity with Xestro medical software
- Understanding of Medicare, Private Health Insurance, and DVA billing
- Fluency in a second language
- Typing proficiency
Key Responsibilities:
- Booking appointments based on doctors’ individual schedules
- Handling incoming phone and email inquiries efficiently
- Coordinating surgical bookings
- Following practice procedures and protocols
- Participating in ongoing training and development
