Wanson Pty Ltd has recently been approved as an Energex Service Provider under WCS 72 & 72.2 and has secured a major telecommunications infrastructure decommissioning project across South East Queensland.
We are seeking motivated and reliable team members to join our growing workforce to assist with the removal of the legacy Optus HFC network.
This is a physically active outdoor role suited to people who enjoy working as part of a close-knit crew, operating in different locations, and contributing to major infrastructure projects.
Positions Available
EWP Operator
- Operate Elevated Work Platforms for aerial network removal works.
- EWP High Risk Work Licence (WP) must be obtained before commencing work.
- Lead in aerial removal activities.
- Work closely with ground crews to safely remove telecommunications infrastructure.
Utility Workers / Ground Crew
- Assist with removal of aerial telecommunications cables and infrastructure.
- Work as part of a 2–3 person crew.
- Perform manual handling, cable recovery, site setup and traffic management activities.
- Support EWP operators and project supervisors.
About the Role
This project involves:
- 40 - 45hrs of work per week.
- Removal of aerial telecommunications cables.
- Removal of customer service drop cables.
- Recovery and disposal of network infrastructure.
- Working around power authority assets under approved work methods.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Travelling throughout South East Queensland.
No previous telecommunications experience is required; however, candidates with utility, construction, civil, vegetation management, telecommunications or electrical industry experience will be highly regarded.

Essential Requirements
- Right to work in Australia.
- Current Driver Licence.
- MR Class (Medium Rigid) desired
- Ability to pass a criminal history check.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment if required.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Highly Regarded Qualifications
The following are not mandatory but will significantly improve your application:
- MR Truck Licence.
- EWP High Risk Work Licence (WP).
- Power Awareness Training.
- Traffic Management Implementation.
- First Aid & CPR.
- Telecommunications industry experience.
- NBN, Optus, Telstra or utility infrastructure experience.
- Construction or civil labouring experience.
- Vegetation management or arborist experience.
Training Opportunities
Candidates who already hold the required competencies will be prioritised due to the ability to commence work immediately.
For suitable applicants who require additional training, Wanson may provide training pathways. Company-funded training may be subject to a Training Reimbursement Agreement and minimum employment commitment.
