Special Counsel – Insurance Statutory Classes & Work Injury Damages - Sydney | 6+ PQE

Montgomery Advisory is partnering with a leading national law firm to recruit a Special Counsel to join its growing Insurance Statutory Classes / Work Injury Damages practice in Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior insurance lawyer looking to take ownership of complex matters while working within a highly regarded defendant insurance team. You will advise leading insurers, self-insurers, employers and government clients across a sophisticated mix of Work Injury Damages and statutory workers' compensation matters, with genuine autonomy and direct client engagement.

The Role

You will be responsible for:
Managing a portfolio of complex Work Injury Damages and statutory workers' compensation matters
Advising on liability, quantum and claims strategy
Building and managing robust client relationships
Appearing in the Personal Injury Commission, District Court and Supreme Court
Working closely with medical, liability and investigation experts
Representing clients at mediations and settlement conferences




Mentoring junior lawyers while contributing to a team-oriented and high-performing team

About You

You will have:
6+ years' post-admission experience
Solid experience in Work Injury Damages, statutory workers' compensation or broader defendant insurance litigation
The ability to manage matters autonomously and provide strategic legal advice
Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
Strong client relationship management skills and a collaborative approach to leadership
