Disability support workers provide support services that fulfil the living, social and reactional requirements and needs of people living with a disability. To enable personal development and honing of skills, a carer will promote community interaction and inclusion, independence, personal growth and decision making.

Key responsibilities and duties:

– Promote residents participate in age appropriate activities and tasks within the community and at home
– To help the resident engage in outings and daily activities and promote involvement in the community
– Provide direct care in accordance with the NDIS plan
– Abide by the medication administration policy, WHS procedures and client rights policies
– Ensure the safety and wellbeing of resident by reporting any issues and concerns to the appropriate persons




– Provide 1:1 care or small group support
– Ensure documentation and information relating to the resident is accurately and appropriately recorded

Mandatory requirements:

– Cert IV in Disability or Cert III in Individual Support (Ageing and Disability, HACC optional) or equivalent Â
– Two Reference checks
– Current police check (less than 6 months old)
– Working with Children Check
– Current First Aid Level 2
– Current CPRÂ (Annual)
– Manual Handling
– A working permit is required for those on a special visa (e.g. student visa)

Desirable requirements:

– Administration of Medication (optional)
