The Role
The ABC is looking for a Sub-Editor to review and edit stories for publication across the ABC News website, app and other digital channels. You'll partner with journalists and editorial teams to enhance story structure, maintain accuracy, and ensure content aligns with ABC Editorial Policies, tone and style standards.
The Job
Produce and sub-edit ABC News digital content.
Check stories for accuracy, style, and timeliness before publication.
Work closely with newsroom teams to share information clearly.
Support journalists with writing, publishing, and feedback.
Stay informed on current events, industry trends, and audience needs.
Work collaboratively, mentor junior staff, and contribute coverage ideas.
Take part in editorial discussions and other duties as needed.

About You
Qualifications or equivalent experience in journalism.
Robust digital journalism, editing, and editorial judgement.
Experience in newsrooms, social media, and online content distribution.
Positive teamwork and communication skills, and an ability to give constructive feedback.
A broad knowledge of news and audience needs.
An ability to produce accurate cross-platform content to style and policy.
An understanding of media law.
Experience creating complex digital content and using social media for research and audience engagement.
A commitment to diverse, authentic storytelling that reflects Australia’s communities.
