In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of a diverse fleet of pearling vessels and associated machinery. About your next role

In this role, you will lead the maintenance and repair efforts for a fleet of specialised vessels. You will work mainly on land, though you may occasionally be required to go out on the water. Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing engineering tasks for pearling vessels and onsite machinery
Performing mechanical repairs and routine servicing.
Leading a small team of mechanics to ensure all refit and servicing programs are completed on schedule
Conducting diagnostics and repairs on marine engines and hydraulic systems
Maintaining a safe and organised workshop environment to support effective operations
Assisting with remote site maintenance
Ensuring all work complies with strict maritime safety standards

What you will need to bring





To be successful in this lead position, you should have a strong technical background and a proactive approach to problem solving. We look for:
Relevant Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with marine or heavy machinery background
Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior team members
Excellent communication skills for working in close-knit team environments
Resilience and adaptability when required to work in remote locations
A high level of physical fitness suited for 9 to 10-hour shifts

Mandatory Requirements
Australian Trade Qualification (Mechanical)
Ability to pass a Pre-employment Medical, including Drug and Alcohol testing
Current Manual Driver's License
Construction White Card
