The Plumber is responsible for undertaking maintenance, repairs, and construction activities relating to Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure across the Flinders Shire. This role plays a key part in ensuring the reliable operation of essential services and contributes directly to Council’s operational and strategic objectives.
Employment Status: Full time
Award: The position is classified as a Building Tradesperson, Level 1, under the Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream C) Award – State 2017.
Salary Range: $70,515 – $98,745 per annum, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently relay information to internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service, and the ability to respond to customer enquiries in a skilled and patient manner, achieving mutually agreeable solutions and de‑escalating conflict.
Ability to work within a team,
share knowledge and experience and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated written/verbal skills with the ability to complete accurate paperwork and follow directions.
Where required, stay in camp accommodation away from town and undertake work outside of normal business hours including participating in an on‑call roster.
Commitment to uphold Council’s Code of Conduct, Workplace Health and Safety and Anti-Discrimination policies.
Current national general construction induction (white) card; and confined spaces ticket.
Essential Education/Qualifications
Recognised trade qualification within plumbing and drainage services
Demonstrated experience working at heights.
Qualifications in gas fitting.
Qualifications in backflow prevention and experience fitting and testing backflow prevention devices.
Competent in operating mobile plant/fleet and currency of licences/tickets.
