About the role As the Senior Mechanical Project Engineer, you will lead the design and technical sign‑off of structural and mechanical scopes for large and complex hybrid energy system projects that combine solar PV, energy storage and thermal power generation. The role can be based in Sydney, Adelaide or Melbourne.
Key responsibilities - Develop and manage secure designs for hybrid energy systems (HES) focused on thermal power generation to complement solar PV and energy storage.
Define the scope of works and coordinate with external multidisciplinary engineering consultants to deliver all required design deliverables.
Engage suppliers and conduct tender processes for procurement.
Manage consultants and suppliers to deliver thermal power generation designs and equipment.
Assist the Project Delivery Team to resolve technical issues during installation and adjust designs and drawings as needed.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with Sales, Delivery and Engineering during bid management and contract execution. About you - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong understanding of diesel and gas generator systems,
including performance optimisation and reliability engineering.
Knowledge of fuel parameters (heat rate, LHV/HHV, Wobbe Index, specific fuel consumption) and their impact on generator performance and efficiency.
Demonstrated hands‑on troubleshooting skills and root cause analysis.
Experience leading engineering roles in cross‑disciplinary delivery teams, with a commitment to health and safety culture.
Proficiency with relevant design and engineering software such as AutoCAD.
Well‑developed, detail‑oriented organisational skills and solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
