Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI reasons through complex engineering problems, from fluid dynamics to structural mechanics.
This is a unique prospect to step beyond traditional engineering work and leave your mark on the next generation of AI systems.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced mechanical engineering scenarios across FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, thermodynamics, and material science to stress-test AI reasoning
Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and adherence to standards such as ASME and ISO
Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify flaws in AI-generated reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
Solid foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical derivations clearly in written form
Meticulous attention to detail — especially around mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or technical review workflows
Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
Background in applied research or academic publishing
