Role Description The Head Chef at Funtopia Carrum Downs is a full time, on-site role based in Carrum Downs, VIC, responsible for leading all kitchen operations in a high-energy family entertainment environment. Day-to-day tasks include planning and executing menus, supervising food preparation, ensuring food quality and presentation, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.

The Head

Chef manages kitchen staff scheduling and training, oversees stock control and ordering, and works to meet cost and waste targets. This role collaborates closely with venue management to support events, parties,



and peak service times, while consistently delivering a welcoming, productive food experience for guests of all ages.

Qualifications
Strong culinary skills, including menu planning, food preparation, and plating suitable for a family and event-focused venue.
Experience in kitchen leadership, including supervising staff, rostering, training, and performance management.
Demonstrated knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and OH&S; practices in a commercial kitchen environment.
Ability to manage inventory, supplier relationships, cost control, and waste reduction effectively.
Proven capability to work in a quick-paced setting, handle peak service periods, and coordinate catering for functions and parties.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused and inclusive approach.
Relevant culinary qualification or trade certificate, and prior experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef in a similar venue or high-volume setting.
Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and public holidays as required, and full working rights in Australia.
