Masala Bite is a busy Indian restaurant in Innisfail seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to prepare high-quality dishes for our dine-in and takeaway service. This is an excellent chance for a qualified cook who takes pride in consistent, authentic cooking. Key duties and responsibilities
? Prepare, season and cook a range of Indian and contemporary dishes to the restaurant's standards and recipes; ? Prepare curries, tandoori items, breads, rice dishes, entrées and accompaniments to order during service; ? Portion, plate and present food attractively and consistently;
? Monitor stock of ingredients, assist with ordering and take delivery of supplies; ? Maintain a clean, secure and hygienic kitchen in line with food safety and WHS requirements; ? Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely; and
? Assist with menu preparation and support other kitchen staff during busy periods. Skills and experience required ? A relevant qualification in commercial cookery (AQF Certificate III or higher), OR equivalent relevant work experience as a cook;
? Demonstrated experience preparing Indian cuisine or similar high-volume à la carte cooking; ? Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen WHS practices; ? Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak service;
? Reliability, valuable teamwork and the flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis; and ? Working rights in Australia (or eligibility to be sponsored). ? Australian citizen and permanent resident are encouraged to apply.
