Experience in working with children and families in crisis or experiencing domestic violence and homelessness.
Understanding of the effects of trauma on infants, children and adults.
Experience in working with Aboriginal communities, children, families and services.

What you will be doing

The Children's Practitioner provides therapeutic support to children aged 0–12 years who are accompanying adults accessing homelessness and domestic violence services. Working primarily in outreach settings, the practitioner conducts child-focused assessments, delivers individual and group therapeutic programs, and offers parenting education to help families achieve positive outcomes for their children. The role involves close collaboration with case managers, schools, childcare providers, and other support services to ensure coordinated care and advocacy for each child. In addition to managing a small caseload, the practitioner contributes to sector development by facilitating training and sharing expertise in child-focused, trauma-informed practice.
