In addition to the necessary qualifications, the following skills and personal attributes are desirable :

A boating background or sound knowledge of boats and boating skills

Please Note: Instructors and supervisors seeking business sponsorship require 36 months instruction/teaching experience and a minimum of 50 certifications.
Primary responsibility is to coordinate and supervise all diving and snorkelling activities and to ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers and staff on board any Pro Dive Cairns dive vessel.
In order to achieve this goal,
the Dive Supervisor must take into consideration the different levels of experience of the divers and snorkellers under their supervision, and the affect of prevailing weather conditions on all divers and snorkellers.
The Dive Supervisor's authority on board any dive vessel run by Pro Dive Cairns is second only to the Skipper, yet it is still important that the Dive Supervisor can coordinate with other crew members to ensure all dive or snorkel activities are carried out under the safest possible conditions.
In keeping with the high level of skilled service we provide, all Dive Supervisors employed at Pro Dive Cairns are required to hold the following qualifications:
Current teaching status as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor or higher rating
A current AS 2299 diving medical
A valid/current senior first aid certification
A valid/current (12 months) certification in oxygen resuscitation and AED
A valid motor vehicle driver license, held for a minimum of three years
Nitrox instructor specialty rating
Recreational boat licence
