Animal Services Officer

This position enforces Illinois state laws and Boone County ordinances pertaining to animal control and animal welfare. The Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including receiving and responding to public complaints, conducting investigations, issuing citations, patrolling assigned areas to capture stray animals, cleaning and maintaining kennel areas, and feeding and caring for animals.

The role may require weekend, holiday, and after‑hours on‑call shifts.

Compensation and Perks
Starting wage $18.00–$20.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
Teamsters Local 325 bargaining unit

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Preferred experience in an animal‑related field or law enforcement
Residency within 20 minutes of the shelter (Boone County residency not required but preferred)
