Discipline Team Lead – Civil Engineering Design
We are seeking an experienced and technically strongDiscipline Team Leadto join a growing engineering team in Geelong.
This role is ideal for a senior civil design professional who combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capability and a passion for developing people and delivering quality outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience incivil engineering design, particularly acrosscommercial civil infrastructure, water and stormwater networks, and pump station design, along with advanced capability inCivil 3D and 12d.
About the Role
As Discipline Team Lead, you will work closely with the Discipline Director to support project delivery, lead and mentor team members, and help drive operational performance and business growth.
You will provide both technical leadership and people leadership while contributing to strategic planning and client relationship management.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you will continue to provide high-level technical input and project oversight while fostering a collaborative, accountable and high-performing team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Provide visible and supportive leadership across the discipline team
Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins focused on development, well-being, and continuous improvement
Mentor and coach engineers and designers to build technical capability and career growth
Foster a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
Technical & Project DeliveryLead and review civil engineering designs across commercial and infrastructure projects
Provide technical oversight and support in:Civil commercial developments
Water and stormwater infrastructure
Pump station design
Coordinate and support project delivery outcomes across the team
Ensure quality, efficiency and technical excellence in design documentation
Operational ManagementMonitor team utilisation, forecasting, invoicing and project performance
Review and approve timesheets and assist with resource planning
Support recruitment activities and workforce planning
Assist in maintaining strong project delivery and commercial outcomes
Clients & Business DevelopmentMaintain strong client relationships and provide trusted technical advice
Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities for growth
Contribute to securing future project pipelines
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Significant experience in civil engineering design within a consulting environment
Strong technical expertise in:Civil commercial projects
Water and stormwater infrastructure
Pump station design
Advanced proficiency inAutodesk Civil 3Dand12d
Proven experience leading or mentoring technical teams
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to balance technical delivery, people leadership and commercial awareness
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering
