The Opportunity
Reporting to the Head of HSE & Risk, you will lead a team of HSE specialists while providing strategic direction, governance, assurance, and oversight across the organisation's HSE function.
This role is responsible for ensuring critical risks are effectively managed, compliance obligations are met, and systems continue to evolve to support safe, sustainable, and resilient operations.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, providing meaningful insights that influence decision-making, strengthen risk management practices, and drive continuous improvement across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and continuously enhance the organisation's Health, Safety & Environmental operating model.Provide leadership across safety governance, assurance, business continuity, emergency management, incident investigation, and environmental programs.Drive the development and maturity of HSE management systems, reporting frameworks, critical risk controls, and performance metrics.Deliver executive and board-level reporting, translating complex risk and performance data into meaningful business insights.Lead and develop a team of specialist HSE professionals while fostering a high-performance culture.Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant safety, environmental and management system standards,



including ISO frameworks.Champion safety culture initiatives that strengthen leadership accountability and employee engagement.Oversee injury management and return-to-work governance, ensuring positive outcomes for employees and the business.
About You
You are a strategic and commercially minded HSE leader who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to influence and inspire others.
You'll bring:
Significant senior leadership experience within high-risk industries such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, mining, transport, manufacturing or heavy industrial environments.Proven success leading HSE governance, assurance, risk and management systems functions.Strong knowledge of ISO *****, ISO ***** and contemporary HSE best practice.Experience leading organisational change and building high-performing teams.Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior executives and operational leaders.Strong analytical capability and experience translating data into strategic business outcomes.Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, with postgraduate qualifications viewed favourably.

Experience We're Looking For
-10+ years' experience leading Health, Safety & Environment functions within high-risk industries such as energy, utilities, infrastructure, resources, transport, manufacturing or heavy industry.
-Demonstrated success implementing and improving HSE management systems, governance frameworks, assurance programs and risk management processes.
-Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive organisation-wide safety, environmental and operational performance improvements.
-Solid experience delivering executive and board-level reporting, translating complex risk and performance data into strategic insights.
-Track record leading high-performing teams through business transformation, cultural change and continuous improvement initiatives.
-Experience overseeing critical risk programs, business continuity, crisis management, emergency preparedness and incident investigations.
-Working knowledge of workers' compensation, injury management and return-to-work frameworks.
-Tertiary qualifications in WHS, Engineering, Environmental Science, Risk, Business Management or a related discipline.
