As a Biodiversity Project Officer, you will support Murdoch University's sustainability ambitions by protecting and enhancing biodiversity across campuses and farms.
Your key responsibilities include promoting conservation reserve management, leading fieldwork such as transect surveys, collecting and managing biodiversity data, and collaborating with researchers, staff and the broader University community to raise awareness and drive action.
You will contribute to the Moorditj Boodja – Strong Country Sustainability Sub‐Strategy **********) and support outcomes in biodiversity, climate resilience and water.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct detailed fieldwork, including transect surveys across multiple sites, to establish baseline data on native fauna, vegetation and ecosystem condition.Lead the collection, curation and management of biodiversity data to ensure it informs decision‐making and action.Collaborate with researchers, staff and community stakeholders to promote engagement in environmental sustainability.Support the delivery of the Moorditj Boodja – Strong Country Sustainability Sub‐Strategy and related biodiversity objectives.Maintain accurate records of data,



fieldwork and related deliverables.What You'll Bring to the RoleTertiary qualification in a relevant field.Knowledge of biodiversity conservation issues.Proven experience implementing biodiversity data collection methodologies and analysing outcomes.Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and maintain integrated data sets across multiple disciplines.Current C‐class driver's licence.Knowledge of cultural considerations and willingness to engage with Indigenous knowledge and perspectives (preferred).
What We Offer You!
Fixed Term (5 months) – part‐time (22.5 hours per week) with pro‐rata remuneration of $80,000–$89,000 plus 17% employer superannuation.Flexible work arrangements and cultural load & allowance (up to $8,944 per year for First Nations employees).
