Superior fit and comfort for the end wearer is at the forefront of the design practice, while its name is a derivative of the word 'cloak': something that covers or conceals; to disguise; to hide.
Role Description
The Technical Design Developer is responsible for supporting all design and production processes
and ensuring they run as planned, and on time.
In addition to working with the Lead Designer and
Production Manager, this role also ensures the smooth running of all general workroom functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Assistance
Assist Lead Designer with style development and range planning, task include (but are not
limited to):
Graphic and style design development
Fabric & trim sourcing
Specifications & Technical Detail
Assist Lead Designer with style development and range planning, task include (but are not
limited to):
Technical drawings
Measurement templates
Sample Production
Manage the sample production and workroom tasks including (but not limited to):
Supply chain / lead times
Pattern making and alterations
Sewing of toiles
Sewing of finished sales samples (when requires)
Organise and distribute salesman samples for national and international agents
Finishing sales samples – final QC to ensure all samples are ready to be handed to sales team
Finishing patterns ensuring all patterns are checked and complete and ready to be handed to production
Completing usage estimates to hand over to production
Liaising with local and international makers in the development of samples




Aid with the costing of garments for handover
Assist with fittings by taking clear notes and conveying to the appropriate party (patternmaker, factory or production team)
Production Duties
Aid the Production Manager when required, including the creation of tech packs, preparing trims for factories and other day-to-day production requirements
Any other tasks/projects that may be required as advised by the Production Manager
Workroom Duties
Ensure workroom is kept neat and tidy, tables are clear, tools put away and floors swept each evening
Co-ordinate and time manage tasks and timelines for sampling and production development
OH&S;
Ensure that your own work environment is conducive to good occupational health
and safety by complying with occupational health and safety policies, procedures and instructions and taking care for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others who may be affected by your actions
Other
As you are working with a small team, your role will be adaptable, and you may be asked to complete tasks outside the tasks outlined in your job description.

Ability to prioritise tasks and work autonomously to achieve quality outcomes
Strong design knowledge and eye for creative detail
Pattern making and grading knowledge
Competent sewing knowledge and practical skills
Knowledge of all production components
Strong knowledge of Adobe Suite – Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign.
Knowledge and working understanding of fabric
Sense of urgency and understand the importance of deadlines
Thorough understanding of quality control
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to multitask as this role will require you to work across various areas of the business
Strict attention to detail and exceptionally organised
A great attitude!
Experience:
Diploma or Degree in Fashion
3-5 yrs previous experience within a similar position
