Southern Peninsula Basketball Association
The Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA) is the largest not-for-profit sporting organisation on the Mornington Peninsula.
Our objective is to administer the sport of basketball from Mornington to Sorrento.
Providing an avenue for its players, coaches, officials and administrators to participate and develop through organised competitions and development programs.
SPBA represents our members of all skill levels, abilities and ages.
We provide a range of services, including competitions, development programs, high performance programs and further development opportunities for our players, coaches, referees, administrators and volunteers.
We pride ourselves on our community involvement in the wider Mornington Peninsula region.
These services/programs focus on providing development opportunities in a fun, safe and engaging environment.
SPBA operates across multiple venues across the Southern Peninsula region.
SPBA is governed by a Board of Management primarily elected by the members and it holds affiliation and accreditation with Basketball Victoria.

Purpose
The Food & Beverage Coordinator is responsible for managing the Food & Beverage operations at SPBA venues, ensuring high-quality service, efficient stock management, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role oversees product ordering, sales, inventory reconciliation, store presentation, food safety and point-of-sale systems, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for customers.
This role ensures that all retail and food service areas operate efficiently,



providing a high standard of service while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and financial policies.
This role will also organise mobile food stalls for our annual events.
By ensuring the efficient operation of both the Courtside Cafés, the this role plays a crucial role in enhancing SPBA's customer experience, operational efficiency, and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities
Courtside Café
Oversee Courtside Café operations, ensuring hygiene and safety standards are met.
Act as the Food Safety Supervisor, ensuring all food handling practices comply with regulations.
Manage stock and supplies ordering and reconciliation, ensuring minimal waste and optimal stock levels.
Maintain temperature logs and OHS compliance records.
Maintain and renew licenses for liquor and MPS (food service compliance).
Ensure the Courtside Cafés meet all health, safety, and licensing requirements.
Assist in the hiring of adequate and suitably experienced Food & Beverage Attendants
Assist in conducting training with new staff and conduct relevant training to upskill existing staff
Ensure the Point-of-Sale (POS) system is fully operational, with accurate pricing and inventory tracking.
Organise oil waste collection processes, ensuring sustainability and environmental compliance.
Change oil in Dromana & Rosebud Courtside Cafés as required.
Conduct monthly deep cleans of Dromana & Rosebud Courtside Cafés.
Organise stock for mobile food stalls for annual tournaments.
Key Performance Indicators
Compliance with food and safety regulations.
Increase in 10% annual gross profit generated from Courtside Café sales and 5% net profit.
General
Analyse and provide recommendations to the General Manager, where relevant, of changes to the SPBA operations.
Ability to be present at times as required during operational times to support operations such as monitoring and evaluating the operations and training.
Timely response to enquiries by members in relation to department.
Ensure that all facilities are safe to use.
In situations that they are not, take necessary actions to ensure they are.
Ensure game day staff are also adhering to their responsibility in this area.
Perform other job-related tasks as requested by management and as necessitated by the development of this role and the business.
Key Performance Indicators
100% compliance with Child Safeguarding Policy.
Maintain "inbox near zero": 90% of emails answered ≤2 business days, 100% ≤5 business days during season.

Selection Criteria
All offers of employment are subject to satisfactory proof of eligibility to work in Australia, reference checks and a Working with Children Check.
All applicants must have a current Victorian Driver's License.
The role includes some local travel, as well as occasional evening and weekend work.
Essential
Point-of-Sale & Systems – Proficiency in POS systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), with the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
Food Service Management – Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, with the ability to oversee food handling, stock control, waste management, and licensing compliance.
Financial & Compliance Skills – Demonstrated accuracy in cash handling, record-keeping, and monitoring compliance with OHS, food safety, and licensing regulations.
Leadership & Staff Coordination – Experience rostering, training, or supporting casual/food & beverage staff, with a focus on operational efficiency and service quality.
Customer Service & Communication – Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide positive customer experiences and liaise effectively with suppliers, staff, and community members.
Problem Solving & Adaptability – Ability to resolve operational issues quickly and effectively in a dynamic environment, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
Qualifications - Food Safety Supervisor certification (or willingness to obtain).
Child Safety Commitment – Understanding of child safety principles and ability to act as a role model, prioritising the wellbeing of children and young people.
Desirable
Data & Program Improvement – Experience using competition or participation data to identify trends and make evidence-based recommendations for future improvement.
Event & Tournament Support – Experience supporting large-scale tournaments or competition events, including rostering, logistics, and member engagement.
