About the role
We are seeking an experienced and visionaryPrincipalto lead Aspect South Coast School in Corrimal, NSW.
This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of autistic students within a supportive and progressive school community.
The Principal will provide strategic leadership and direction to the school, working collaboratively with staff, students, families and the broader Aspect organisation.
You will be instrumental in creating an inclusive, nurturing educational environment that promotes academic excellence, personal growth and wellbeing for all learners.
Key responsibilities
Provide strategic vision and educational leadership to develop and implement the school's strategic plan and annual priorities
Foster a positive, inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity and supports the wellbeing of students, staff and families
Oversee curriculum development and delivery, ensuring quality teaching and learning practices aligned with educational standards and autism-specific approaches
Manage school operations, finances and resources effectively to ensure optimal student outcomes and school sustainability
Lead, develop and support the school staff team through recruitment,
performance management, professional development and mentoring
Build and maintain strong partnerships with families, community organisations and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, regulations and educational standards
Champion cutting-edge practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance educational outcomes for autistic learners
Collaborate with Aspect leadership and other schools to share best practice and contribute to the organisation's strategic objectives
Promote and advocate for the needs and rights of autistic students within the school and broader community
What we're looking for
Significant experience in school leadership or senior management within an educational setting, ideally in a specialist or alternative education context
Demonstrated expertise in special education, autism spectrum disorder, or working with students with additional needs
Strong understanding of current educational frameworks, curriculum standards and inclusive pedagogical practices
Proven experience in strategic planning, financial management and school operations
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
Leadership capability to inspire, motivate and develop staff whilst fostering a collaborative team culture
A commitment to equity, inclusion and creating safe, supportive learning environments for all students
Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Disability Discrimination Act, Work Health and Safety requirements and NSW Education Standards
Current NSW Department of Education teacher accreditation or eligibility to obtain accreditation
A valid Working with Children Check
Desirable experience with evidence-based autism interventions and understanding of neurodiversity-affirming approaches
