The Derwent Valley is a stunning, diverse location just 30 minutes from Hobart, extending from New Norfolk and its surrounds to spectacular world heritage wilderness areas.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Works Manager.
Responsible for supervision and leadership of outdoor works staff in the maintenance and management of parks, reserves, cemeteries, roads, drainage, footpaths, landfill operations and other related works within the Derwent Valley Council municipality.
The position is also responsible to ensure that safe, efficient and effective use is made of Council's staff, plant and materials while providing a high level of customer service.

Essential
1.Demonstrated understanding of secure work practices and legislation in works drainage, parks, reserves, cemeteries, roads, drainage, footpaths, landfill operations and ability to implement and support safe work practices across these operations.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage medium to large teams of outdoor workers, including conflict resolution and performance management.
3. Demonstrated experience and understanding of capital works and operations in a public infrastructure context.
4.Providing support and visibility of costs with the ability to identify potential cost issues before they become significant and report issues to the CEO in a timely manner.
5.Well-developed time management skills.
6.Well-developed written skills to enable the preparation of reports and recommendations that can be clearly understood and acted upon.
7.Demonstratedexperience withdigital tools in the oversight and recording of capital and operational works programs.
8.Demonstrated highly developed IT skills andapplication
9.Design and Traffic management qualification or ability to obtain during probation period
10.Emergency Management skills and qualifications or willingness to obtain during probation
Highly Desirable
· Previous experience with Local Government.
· NHVR permits
· Understanding of the Cemetery Act
· Swimming pool operations or ability to obtain
