Payroll & Finance Officer
We're looking for an experienced Payroll & Finance Officer to join our Finance team.
Payroll is the primary focus of this role, accounting for approximately half of your workload.
You'll take ownership of our weekly payroll function, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time and in accordance with legislative requirements and Modern Awards.
When payroll is complete, you'll work alongside the Finance team across a broad range of accounting responsibilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and is looking to further develop their finance skills while working closely with the Group Finance Manager.
About the Role
Payroll Responsibilities
End-to-end processing of weekly payroll
Processing Payday Super in accordance with legislative requirements
Preparation and lodgement of Single Touch Payroll (STP)
Interpretation and application of Modern Awards, including overtime, penalty rates, allowances and leave entitlements
Maintaining accurate employee records and payroll documentation
Processing new starters, employment changes and terminations
Payroll reconciliations and reporting
Responding to payroll enquiries while maintaining strict confidentiality
Working closely with HR and management to ensure payroll compliance and accuracy
Finance Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable across multiple entities
Mid-month and end-of-month creditor payment runs
General ledger journals and reconciliations
Bank reconciliations
Corporate credit card administration and monthly reconciliations
Monthly stocktake data entry and investigation of inventory variances




Assisting with month-end reporting and general finance administration
Supporting the Finance team with ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We're looking for someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys solving problems and is keen to be an active contributor within a team-oriented finance team.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
Demonstrated experience processing end-to-end payroll within an Australian business
A sound understanding of Modern Awards, payroll legislation, STP and Payday Super
Experience using MYOB AccountRight Payroll or a similar payroll system
Experience with time and attendance systems
Excellent organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
The ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy
A positive, friendly and qualified approach with strong communication skills
The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement
Desirable
Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
General ledger, bank and balance sheet reconciliation experience
Month-end journals and reporting
Multi-entity accounting experience
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
