We are seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to lead the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of our bus fleet and depot assets across the Murray Bridge region.

Key Responsibilities
· Lead the safe, reliable, and cost‐effective maintenance of the fleet and depot assets to meet operational, contractual, and regulatory requirements.
· Deliver asset lifecycle performance by planning and delivering preventative and reactive maintenance, optimising availability, safety, quality, and whole‐of‐life cost outcomes as per asset strategies, standards, budgets, and frameworks set by the Head of Assets – Bus SA.
· Provide strong leadership, technical expertise, and coordination between workshop teams and operations to support service delivery, continuous improvement, and customer outcomes.
Key Requirements
Qualifications
· Trade certificate in heavy diesel mechanics, mechanical engineering, or other relevant discipline.
· Current HR Driver's Licence.
Experience
· Proven experience in the transport industry in a managerial or senior maintenance role.
· Demonstrated experience in fleet maintenance, facilities management, asset lifecycle management, and workshop operations.




· Experience managing teams, budgets, contractors, and regulatory compliance in a safety‐critical environment
Responsibility and Authority
· Accountable for the safety, reliability, availability, and compliance of the fleet, including buses, cars, and workshop vehicles.
· Holds authority to prevent vehicles from entering service or to remove vehicles from service where safety, quality, or compliance is compromised.
· Ensures all preventative and reactive maintenance activities meet statutory, contractual, KPI, quality, and budget requirements.
· Manages depot buildings, workshops, fixed plant, and associated assets to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations.
· Leads technical input into fleet specification, procurement, replacement, and lifecycle management to optimise asset life and whole‐of‐life cost.
· Oversees procurement, storage, and use of parts, tyres, fuel, tools, and workshop equipment, including warranty and supplier management.
· Leads and performance‐manages workshop employees, ensuring a strong safety culture, effective employee consultation, and capability development.
· Owns and controls the workshop and local maintenance budget within approved financial limits.
· Ensures compliance with quality, environmental, sustainability, and Business Management System (BMS) requirements,



including Greenhouse Challenge reporting and workers compensation management.
· Provides accurate reporting and technical advice to senior management and acts as the primary liaison with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT/DPTI) and other key stakeholders.

· Ability to build effective working relationships with operations teams, contractors, regulators, and key stakeholders.
