About the program:AIR**** is the RAAF's $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems.
AIR**** will create a fully networked 'system of systems' that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
About the role:The Air**** program is expanding, creating multiple opportunities for Systems Engineers to join a flagship Defence capability shaping Australia's integrated air and missile defence future.As part of several Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), you will contribute to the delivery of complex, system-of-systems capability across domains including communications, operational continuity and support systems.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of Defence innovation in a highly collaborative, digitally enabled engineering environment.
You will:Develop and manage system and sub-system requirements within an MBSE environmentSupport system architecture,



interface definition and integration activitiesContribute to system verification and validation planning and executionProduce key engineering artefacts including requirements, design documents and trade studiesEngage with internal teams, SMEs and external partners to support program deliveryContribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and processes
About you: You are an experienced Systems Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working across large-scale engineering environments.
You bring a collaborative mindset and are comfortable navigating ambiguity while delivering high-quality technical outcomes.
You will bring:Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle (requirements, design, integration and/or verification)Exposure to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles and tools (e.g. MagicDraw, Cameo, Rhapsody or similar)Experience working on complex systems, ideally within Defence or high-technology environmentsStrong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to work independently and within multidisciplinary teamsEngineering degree or equivalent industry experience
Desirable:Experience working within AIR**** or similar large Defence programsExposure to system-of-systems integration and digital engineering environmentsKnowledge of Defence capability domains (C2, ISR, communications, etc.)
