About the Business - State Library of South
Australia
The State Library of South Australia (SLSA), incorporating
Public Library Services keeps alive the memories and stories of
generations of South Australians.
This is achieved by connecting
South Australians to each other through our State Library and the
network of community libraries, providing access to local and world
information and serving as hubs for knowledge and community
engagement.
Role Highlights
Develop a state, national and internationally recognised
collection
Lead a specialist team influencing decisions and delivering
cultural outcomes
Work with donors, vendors and sector partners to secure
significant acquisitions
Role Details
Contribute to the development,
review and implementation of the Published Collecting Plan
within the Collections Policy framework, supporting the Manager
Published Collections and considering the full lifecycle cost
of collection management.
This role ensures collections are
strategically developed, sustainably managed, and aligned with
organisational priorities.
Provide leadership and professional
guidance to the team, driving performance and fostering a
culture of highquality customer service, continuous improvement
and professional practice.
This includes ensuring compliance
with the Libraries Act ****, meeting legal deposit obligations,
and maintaining strong, relevant reference and special
collections that reflect organisational goals.
Lead the
assessment and negotiation of significant acquisitions,
offering expert advice and building strong relationships with
donors and stakeholders.
Manage the collection development
budget effectively, collaborate with partners to enhance
systems and workflows, provide specialist collection advice,
and deliver projects in line with departmental governance,
procurement and risk frameworks.
Special Conditions
The Incumbent will be required to participate in the
department's Performance Management Program.
The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this
remuneration level or equivalent.
Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
Some interstate travel involving overnight absences will be
required.
This role requires a working with children check.
This role requires a National Criminal History check.
Essential
Eligible for professional membership of the Australian
Library and Information Association, or
Degree in Information Management or Archives
Administration, or a degree majoring in history, politics,
anthropology, law or commerce, or another degree and eligible
for skilled membership of the Australian Society of
Archivists, or
Degree in fine arts, applied science or science
Classification
PO3 - Professional Officer
Salary Range
$108,087 - $115,936 p.a.
