About the role
As a Terminal Operator with Puma Energy (Australia) Bitumen Pty Ltd, you will play a vital role in the safe and efficient operation of our Townsville Bitumen Terminal.
This is a hands-on operational role where you will be responsible for the receipt, storage and dispatch of bitumen products while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental compliance are maintained.
You will work as part of a small, close-knit team on a rotating roster, including day, afternoon and night shifts.
The successful applicant will also participate in an on-call roster to support safe and reliable terminal operations when required.
What you'll be doing
Safely loading and unloading bitumen products to and from road tankers.
Operating, monitoring and maintaining terminal equipment, including pumps, tanks, pipelines and associated infrastructure.
Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
Performing product quality checks and ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Maintaining accurate operational records and documentation.
Responding to operational issues and assisting with troubleshooting where required.
Working in accordance with Puma's Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards.
Collaborating with colleagues and contractors to ensure efficient and reliable terminal operations.
Participating in a rotating shift roster, including day, afternoon and night shifts.
Participating in an on-call roster and responding to operational requirements outside normal working hours when required.
Participating in emergency response activities and maintaining operational readiness.
What we're looking for
Experience in a terminal, manufacturing, process plant, transport, mining,
petroleum or other heavy industrial environment.
Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to operate and maintain industrial equipment.
Commitment to safe work practices and compliance with established procedures.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work effectively in a small team while also working independently.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Current manual driver's licence.
Ability and willingness to work a rotating roster, including afternoon and night shifts.
Ability and willingness to participate in an on-call roster.
High Risk Work Licences (Forklift, Dogging, Rigging or similar) will be highly regarded.
Experience working with hazardous chemicals or petroleum products will be advantageous.
