Summary:
The Fabrication Assistant supports manufacturing, fabrication, welding, assembly and production activities within the workshop and production environment.
The role assists in the preparation, fabrication, assembly, finishing and quality inspection of metal and plastic products, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company specifications and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the fabrication, assembly and repair of metal, plastic and composite products and structures.
Read and interpret basic drawings, work instructions, specifications and production schedules.
Measure, mark, cut, shape, drill, grind and prepare materials for fabrication and assembly.
Operate hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment and production machinery in accordance with operating procedures.
Assist with welding, plastic welding, joining, fastening, riveting, and assembly activities under supervision, as required.
Prepare, clean and organise raw materials, components and finished products for production.
Support machine setup, material loading and unloading, and production line operations.
Monitor fabrication and production processes to ensure products meet quality specifications.
Conduct visual inspections of fabricated components and report defects or non-conformances.
Perform finishing activities, including grinding, deburring, polishing, cleaning, and packaging products.
Assist with the movement,



storage and handling of materials using approved equipment and secure work practices.
Maintain accurate production, quality and inventory records as required.
Perform routine equipment checks and report maintenance requirements.
Follow workplace health and safety procedures, environmental requirements and quality management systems.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area at all times.
Collaborate with supervisors, fabricators, welders, machine operators and other team members to achieve production targets.
Undertake other reasonable duties related to fabrication, production and workshop operations as directed
Skills and Experience
Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, welding, plastics fabrication, assembly or production environments is desirable.
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment.
Basic understanding of engineering drawings and measurements.
Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
Physically capable of manual handling and working within a workshop or production environment
Working Conditions
Workshop, manufacturing and production workplace.
May involve lifting materials, standing for extended periods and operating machinery.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
