Product Developer / Knit Designer — Silver Fleece ? Adelaide, South Australia
Silver Fleece is an Australian-owned, vertically integrated knitwear manufacturer based in Adelaide.
From flat bed and circular knitting through dyeing, cutting, sewing and finishing, we design, develop and manufacture premium knitwear, uniforms and sporting apparel for some of Australia's most recognised brands and institutions, including the Australian Cricket Team, Lee Matthews, R.M. Williams and SACA.
We're looking for an experienced Product Developer / Knit Designer to lead product development from concept to bulk production.
This isn't a traditional fashion design role.
We need someone who understands how knitwear is engineered and manufactured, not just how it looks on a mood board, and who genuinely cares about Australian manufacturing and Australian natural fibres.
What you'll doTake concepts through technical development, sampling, fit and into bulk productionBuild technical packs, BOMs and specs that our factory floor can actually run withManage sampling from prototype through PPS to bulk approvalWork directly with clients across corporate, sport, schools and fashion categories, presenting yarn options, construction methods and product solutionsSource and develop yarns and fabrics,



and liaise with local and offshore suppliers on pricing and lead timesWork hand in hand with our knitting, cutting, sewing and finishing teams to solve problems before they hit productionPrepare development costings and manage critical paths and timelines
What you'll bring3+ years in apparel product development, knitwear or manufacturingSolid understanding of garment construction, grading and fitConfidence building technical packs and running sampling processes end to endKnowledge of yarns, knitting methods and manufacturingA genuine passion for Australian manufacturing and Australian natural fibresThe ability to talk shop with a client one hour and a machine operator the nextA commercial head for cost, quality and what's actually feasible to make
