Some roles are about managing tasks.
This one is about leading people who use their own lived experience of mental health recovery to bring hope, connection and practical support to others during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
At MIFWA, our Active Recovery Team — ART works within community mental health clinics, alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams including psychologists, social workers, nurses and other mental health professionals.
ART provides peer-led support to people who are connected with clinical mental health services and may need extra support to build trust, strengthen engagement, reconnect with community and take meaningful steps in their recovery outside of hospital-based care.
We're now looking for a Peer Team Leader to lead across our ART programs across a number of clinics, while also carrying a caseload with young people through the Fiona Stanley Mental Health Clinic.
This is a 12-month maternity leave contract for someone who understands that peer leadership is not about having all the answers.
It is about modelling safe, ethical and purposeful use of lived experience, supporting others to grow in their practice, and helping create the conditions where people feel seen, respected and supported.

About the Role
As thePeer Team Leader – ART,you'll play a key leadership role across MIFWA's Active Recovery Team programs.
You'll support Peer Workers to use their lived experience in a way that is intentional, recovery-focused and safe.
You'll provide guidance, supervision and encouragement, while also helping the team stay connected, reflective and clear in their peer practice.
You'll need to be comfortable leading, supporting, listening, challenging when needed, and staying steady when things are complex.
While the role is based out of our Midland office, it involves travel across Perth metro to support Peer Workers within community mental health clinics, as well as providing direct support to people in the community.
There are also work-from-home options available.
About You
You're someone who understands the heart of peer work — and the responsibility that comes with it.
You know lived experience can be powerful, but only when it is used thoughtfully, safely and in service of the person being supported.
You may already be an experienced Peer Worker ready to step further into leadership, or you may have informal coaching, mentoring or team support experience and be ready to take the next step.
You don't need to be perfect.
You do need to be self-aware, reliable,



courageous enough to have honest conversations, and committed to helping others grow.
What You'll Need
To be considered for this role, you will need:
A current Driver's License
A reliable vehicle with third party insurance
A qualification in mental health, peer work, human services or equivalent experience
Experience working with people experiencing mental health challenges
Your own lived experience of mental health challenges and personal recovery
A current National Police Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
