These programs are a 24/7 workplace.
This means there is a high level ofshift work involved including sleepovers, and weekends.
To be successful in this role, candidates must have the ability to work these shifts.
This position is located in INNISFAIL, QLD.
INNISFAIL is approximately 1.5hours from Cairns.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Workers must have or be able to obtain prior to commencement:
A paid Blue Card or have applied for one
National Crime Check
Current valid driver's license
Already hold a Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services or Child, Youth and Family Intervention, or be enrolled in a nationally accredited minimum Qualification.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
(please answer these criteria in your cover letter)
Developed communication skills with particular emphasis on working with persons in crisis.
Demonstrated ability to supervise young people and organise them into activities and programs.
Demonstrated ability to supervise young people in crisis situations whilst simultaneously providing emotional support.
Ability to de-escalate challenging behaviours and situations.
Knowledge and understanding of practical life skills and an ability to assist youth in applying these skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to cook meals and maintain premises to a clean and hygienic standard.
Demonstrated ability in the use of computers, and ability to maintain systematic records and provide case management services to clients.
An ability to work as part of a team, provide input to team discussion, give and follow instructions.
A commitment to self-development in a social welfare environment

POSITION DUTIES
Innisfail Youth and Family Care Inc provide a safe, dependable, and nurturing living environment for young people in our care.
Residential Youth Workers deliver the day-to-day care and support to children and young people in our Residential Care houses and the Youth Shelter.
Planning and attending activities or appointments with young people and children in line with the needs and goals.
Supporting and managing young people's behaviours in a consistent and calm manner.
Completing daily case notes, admin tasks and incident reports in line with legislative requirements.
To provide emotional support and care for clients and residents.
Assisting residents to positively resolve their conflicts.
To be available to residents at all hours during the shift in times of crisis.
To provide a case management services to residents in residential care.
Assisting young people to identify goals for their future and working with the Case Manager towards this.
Practical support including transport and moral support when the young person is accessing outside services.
Providing the young person an opportunity to provide feedback about services received.
Use daily routines to provide hands-on training of life skills such as cooking, personal care and hygiene, budgeting cleaning, shopping, laundry, resume writing, interview techniques, conflict resolution, communication techniques etc.
Working with young people to maintain hygiene and cleanliness of the house.
To supervise other activities of the house including week-end outings.
Youthwork can also include undertaking casual work at the Youth recreation centre, supervising family visits, transports and other general client support work.
