We're looking for a hands-on Motel Manager (ideal for a couple) to lead daily operations and create memorable guest experiences as we modernise and grow.

The Motel
Nestled in the beautiful spa region of Daylesford, just 1.5 hours from Melbourne, our 18-room property blends comfort with thoughtful touches that encourage guests to extend their stay.
The job is simplified by good systems: self-check-in, an AI voice agent to assist with phones, automated guest comms, and an off-site teammate who manages bulk of reservations and guest communication (SMS, email, chat).
That means fewer admin tasks and more focus on guest experience and property care.
The Opportunity
A rare opportunity for someone hands-on, community-minded, house-proud, and ready for the physical demands of the job.
You'll be supported by two Melbourne-based owners who visit frequently, an off-site assistant, and valuable systems.
Package
Total package valued at $105,000:
$85,000 salary plus super
Onsite 3-bedroom, 1-bath home, including all utilities and internet (valued at $20,000)
50 hours per week base, split across two people.
Suits two part-time roles for a couple, with variable shifts across the week.
One to two rostered days off during peak periods, more flexibility during quiet weeks
Additional housekeeping hours available during peaks
Potential for performance bonuses in future years
Note: weekend work is a requirement - rostered days off are mid-week.
Key Responsibilities




Lead and undertake day-to-day housekeeping to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation (an essential part of the role)
Recruit and build relationships with local casual and contract housekeepers, and prepare the roster against occupancy forecasts to stay adequately staffed on peak turnover days.
Manage laundry: towels and some sheets in-house, the bulk outsourced.
We're aiming to bring more in-house, with casual and contract help through peaks.
Handle property maintenance and gardening: diagnose and report issues.
Coordinate tradespeople to complete works, review quotes and invoices, recommend for director approval, and escalate larger repairs to the directors.
Learn to use our systems: Slack for team communication, the Maintenance Tracker in google sheet for reporting issues, Cloudbeds (our PMS) for booking management, payments, Whistle for guest comms.
Greet guests and troubleshoot issues with support from our remote teammate.
Keep storerooms and outdoor areas tidy, and maintain relationships with tradespeople, suppliers, and the local community.
Bonus: able to take on light cosmetic improvements as skills allow eg.
painting and installing simple fixtures
About You
Physically fit and hands-on, with stamina for housekeeping and gardening, where most hours are spent.
Friendly, practical, professional and community-oriented.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Experience in housekeeping, hospitality, or facilities management preferred.
A passion for regional hospitality and small-town living.
