Position Purpose
The Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the flow of raw materials, finished goods, packaging consumables, and production-related supplies across the manufacturing facility.
Reporting to the General Manager, the role supports production continuity, customer service performance, inventory accuracy, supplier coordination, and freight execution in a fast-paced flexible plastic packaging environment.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Coordination
· Coordinate day-to-day supply chain activities across procurement, production planning support, inventory, warehousing, and dispatch.
· Monitor material availability to support extrusion, printing, conversion, and finishing schedules.
· Follow up suppliers, freight providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure materials and finished goods move on time and in full.
· Escalate risks, delays, shortages, and service issues to the General Manager with recommended corrective actions.
Inventory and Materials Management
· Maintain accurate inventory records for resin, additives, inks, cores, cartons, pallets, packaging consumables, spare production supplies, and finished goods.
· Support cycle counts, stocktakes, stock adjustments, and reconciliation of inventory variances.
· Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels to reduce shortages, excess stock, aged stock, and production disruption.
· Assist with material requirement planning and communicate potential supply constraints early.
Purchasing and Supplier Support
· Raise, track, and follow up purchase orders in line with approved purchasing processes.
· Maintain supplier communication regarding pricing, lead times, order confirmations, delivery dates, and documentation.
· Support supplier performance monitoring, including delivery reliability, quality issues, responsiveness, and cost impacts.
· Identify opportunities to improve supplier reliability, reduce lead times, and support cost control.
Production and Customer Service Support
· Work closely with production, scheduling, customer service, warehouse, sales, and quality teams to support customer delivery commitments.
· Provide timely updates on material availability, delivery risks, finished goods status, and dispatch priorities.
· Assist in resolving order fulfilment issues, urgent customer requirements, backorders, and freight delays.
· Support daily production and operations meetings with relevant supply chain information and action updates.
Logistics, Warehousing and Dispatch
· Coordinate inbound and outbound freight bookings, delivery dockets, consignment notes, and related documentation.
· Liaise with transport providers to manage delivery schedules, pick-ups, delays, and service issues.
· Support warehouse teams with dispatch priorities, stock location accuracy, and goods receipting.
· Ensure logistics activities support safe, efficient, and compliant warehouse operations.
Systems, Reporting and Continuous Improvement
· Maintain accurate records in ERP, inventory, purchasing, and logistics systems.
· Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, supplier performance, delivery performance, purchase order status, and supply risks.
· Analyse supply chain data to identify waste, inefficiency, recurring delays, and improvement opportunities.
· Support process improvement initiatives across procurement, planning, warehouse, transport, and inventory control.
Key Performance Indicators
· Raw material and consumable availability supports agreed production schedules.
· Purchase orders are raised, confirmed, and followed up accurately and on time.
· Inventory records are accurate and variances are investigated promptly.
· Inbound and outbound deliveries are completed on time and in full wherever controllable.
· Supply chain risks are escalated early with practical recovery plans.
· Supplier, freight, and internal stakeholder communication is timely and qualified.
· Continuous improvement actions contribute to reduced delays, stockouts, excess inventory, and avoidable freight costs.
Qualifications and Experience
· Previous experience in supply chain, purchasing, logistics, inventory control, production coordination, or warehouse administration within a manufacturing environment.
· Experience in flexible packaging, plastics, FMCG, industrial manufacturing, or similar fast-paced production environments is highly regarded.
· Working knowledge of ERP, MRP, inventory, purchasing, and freight systems.
· Strong Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general Microsoft Office capability.
· Understanding of production lead times, supplier lead times,
stock control, and customer delivery requirements.
· Forklift licence, dangerous goods awareness, or relevant warehouse/logistics training would be advantageous but is not essential.

· Strong communication skills with the ability to work across production, warehouse, sales, customer service, suppliers, and transport providers.
· Practical problem-solving capability in a time-sensitive manufacturing environment.
· Commercial awareness, including cost control, freight efficiency, supplier performance, and inventory working capital.
· Reliable follow-through, ownership of actions, and willingness to escalate issues early.
· Safety-focused mindset and willingness to work in accordance with site procedures and manufacturing standards.
Working Conditions
· Role is primarily site-based within a flexible plastic packaging manufacturing facility.
· Regular interaction with production, warehouse, dispatch, customer service, suppliers, and transport providers is required.
· The role may involve time on the factory floor or warehouse and requires adherence to all site safety, hygiene, quality, and operational requirements.
· Some flexibility may be required to support urgent production, delivery, or supply chain issues.
Authority and Decision Making
· May raise and follow up purchase orders within approved limits and company procedures.
· May coordinate freight bookings and delivery changes in line with customer and operational priorities.
· Must escalate material shortages, supplier failures, inventory risks, quality concerns, and significant cost impacts to the General Manager.
· Must operate within company policies, delegated authority, safety procedures, and approved supplier arrangements.
Success Profile
The successful Supply Chain Coordinator will be a proactive, hands-on operator who understands the importance of materials, timing, accuracy, and communication in a manufacturing environment.
They will help ensure the facility has the right materials, in the right place, at the right time, while supporting reliable customer delivery performance and continuous operational improvement.
