Hitachi Energy is seeking a motivated Junior Field Service Technician to join our High Voltage Service team.
This role offers a structured development pathway combining hands-on field experience, mentoring from experienced HV specialists, formal technical training, and industry-recognised GIS/AIS certification programs.
Working Alongside Senior Technicians And Engineers, You Will Gain Practical Experience Supporting The Installation, Commissioning, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, And Repair Of Hitachi Energy's High Voltage Switchgear Portfolio, Including
Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS)Air-Insulated Switchgear (AIS)
This is an excellent opportunity for an A-Grade Electrician who is safety-focused, technically curious, and keen to develop into a fully qualified High Voltage Field Service Technician.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning Support
Assist with installation and assembly of GIS and AIS equipmentSupport pre-commissioning activitiesAssist with functional testing and energisation activities
Maintenance & Service Support
Support routine inspections and preventative maintenance activitiesPerform visual inspections and condition assessmentsAssist with gas density monitoring and leak detectionSupport cleaning, lubrication, and mechanical adjustment activitiesParticipate in breakdown response and repair activities
Technical Development




Work under the guidance of experienced HV technicians and engineersDevelop skills in:Electrical testingCircuit breaker analysisTiming and diagnostic testingProtection and control verificationFault finding and troubleshooting
Safety & Compliance
Follow all Hitachi Energy safety policies and proceduresAdhere to HV safety requirements and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) processesParticipate in Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and risk assessmentsSupport environmental compliance, including SF6 gas handling requirementsPromote a strong safety-first and zero-harm culture
Documentation & Customer Support
Complete service reports and maintenance recordsRecord test results and technical findings accuratelyMaintain digital service and compliance documentationRepresent Hitachi Energy professionally on customer sites
About You
Essential Requirements
A-Grade Electrical LicenceStrong understanding of electrical fundamentals and safe work practicesAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematicsCurrent driver's licenceAbility to obtain required site access clearances and certificationsStrong commitment to safetyWillingness to travel and work on customer sites
Desirable Experience




Exposure to one or more of the following would be advantageous:
